The Section ensures:

the exercise of transferred competence in the field of social affairs within the framework of the Statute of the Capital of Prague. It fulfils the tasks ensuing for it from the laws and legal regulations, especially, from the field of social security, including the activities enumerated here. It supports and provides assistance to the family and the children those in social need, with health handicap, the old citizens and provides care for the socially non-adaptable citizens. It ensures advisory and educational activity connected with work in the field.

In the field of independent competence the Section performs the following activities:

• It provides a contribution for the integration of children from Prague 10 with heavy health handicap during the period of compulsory school attendance.
• It coordinates and accomplishes community planning of social services in the territory of Municipal District Prague 10
• For the students of vocational schools and universities oriented at social work it provides professional practice.
• The House of Asylum for the Mothers with Children in Prague 10 – receives and registers applications for accommodation in the House of Asylum and recommends for acceptance.
• It elaborates and discharges applications of the students from children's homes and foster care (provision of scholarships) within the framework of the project “Students' House”
• In the field of independent competence the Section ensures, in the field of health services, the activity of founder in the territory of Municipal District.

Tasks connected with the activity of founder:

• It ensures the exercise of transferred and independent competence in the field of social and health care.
• It ensures the tasks of the founder in relation to contributory organizations. the Centre of Social and Nursing Assistance, Medical Institution for Patients with Long-term Disease Vršovice.
• It provides advisory aid to older citizens and citizens with health handicap and their families in solving social problems following up with the law on social services.
