Section of Education and Culture is established by Municipal District Council Prague 10 for ensuring tasks within independent and transferred competence in the field of education and culture. The extent of competence is specified, especially, by the Statute of the Capital of Prague, as amended, and by law No. 561/2004 Coll., on pre-school, basic, secondary, higher vocational and other education (the school law), as amended.

Section of Education and Culture fulfils, especially, the following tasks:

• It fulfils the tasks of the founder for pre-school facilities, basic schools, school facilities and cultural facilities established by Municipal District Prague 10.
• It is responsible for the appointment of directors of pres-school facilities, basic schools, school facilities and cultural facilities established by Municipal District Prague 10.
• In the field of education and culture it is the manager of movable property of Municipal District Prague 10.
• It participates in the organization of cultural events organized by Municipal District Prague 10.
• By means of information offices it ensures basic servicing for the citizens in the contact with the Authority of Municipal District and ensures the activity of the system Czech POINT.
• It ensures the accomplishment of grant policy and the agenda of civil affairs – welcoming of small citizens, meetings with persons celebrating jubilees, golden weddings, etc.
• From the technical-organization point of view it ensures international cooperation with partner towns.
